This gorgeous contemporary residence in inner-city Melbourne was to be the owners’ dream home and energy efficiency was non-negotiable. Determined to include passive Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) principles to reduce the need for artificial heating and cooling, and combat condensation, the owners tasked Melbourne Design Studios with this stunning project.

Our Coburg home is coming together. This is going to be a Certified Passive House, built from CLT and woodfibre insulation, with triple-glazed windows (all supplies by Sustainable Building Supplies). We poured concrete for the foundations in mid Jan, and are now starting the fit off - pretty good timing I would say!
This is the first of a series of homes for 'Home by Hutt', called TMRW. It's 'ToMoRroW's house today', with a fair bit of experimental stuff going on, and some beautiful finishes and features. Can't wait to see it finished. In the meantime, you can find some impressions from site on our facebook news feed.

Out of the blue, we have just been nominated for a 'German Design Award'. This is for our 'Biophilia Slate House', and we've also been nominated for our Birkenstock HQ a few years back, which is quite amazing.
The German Design Award is annual awards scheme by the 'Rat für Formgebung', the German Design Council, which was established in 1954 by the German Parliament - so we feel really honoured !

The '3rd International Exhibition of Housing' in Serbia has recently concluded. One of the exhibited projects was our "No Two The Same" composition of urban residences, reviewed by the exhibition's iinternational artistic and scientific committee.
The exhibition is designed as a "biennial manifestation, intended to be a review of the significant, contemporary achievements in the field of housing architecture in the last
3 years", organised by the University of Niš in Serbia. Snapshot from the catalogue on the side - there are some really good projects in there, showcasing the latest approaches and achievements in international housing architecture.
